MAX LINDER

SEVEN YEARS BAD LUCK Max Linder was one of the silent screen's earliest comedy stars. His films had delighted French audiences since 1907. In 1916 Linder came to Hollywood and made Seven Years Bad Luck, which would becomehis most popupar and fondly remembered film. The plot is simple enough. Max, debonair clutz--about--town, breaks a mirror and brings on the proverbial seven years of bad luck---all at once! The story serves to showcase Linder's amazing comical talents. For the first time, audiences saw comic routines and scenarios that would later be recreated and reinterpreted by great comedians including the Groucho Brothers and Charlie Chaplin. A historically important, entertaining silent comedy. Highly Recommended. Written, directed by, and starring Max Linder. USA 1920. 85 minutes.
Silent film with added, music score. |
